Liu Ziyun

Liu Ziyun
Lecturer, Early Modern, Literature

Ziyun Liu received her B.A. (2009) and Ph.D. (2015) from Peking University. She was a visiting scholar of Columbia University during 2012-2013 sponsored by CSC (China Scholarship Council). She specializes in pre-modern Chinese literature and culture, especially fiction and drama of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Her research interests also include print culture, material culture and everyday life history of the same era. Her Ph.D. dissertation addresses the role of objects in shaping the everyday narrative of domestic novels of Late Ming and Mid-Qing. Her other publications are concerned with Jin Ping Mei Cihua(The Plum in the Golden Vase) and Honglou Meng (The Red Chamber).She teaches courses on Classic Reading and Writing, Medieval Poetry in this department, and Elementary Chinese Speaking for foreign students.
