2016 undergraduate training program for product design
1-Professional profile
Product design is a new subject under the background of modern society, it combines art, nature, humanities and social science knowledge, coordination of art and technology, focus on the concept of people-oriented design, is an important part of modern service industry.
Beijing Industrial and Commercial University product design professional predecessor is established in 1994, industrial design, is one of China's earlier industrial design, in 2012 under the Ministry of Education undergraduate professional directory adjustment changed its name to product design professional, in 2012 was established as Beijing industrial and commercial Comprehensive reform of undergraduate teaching experimental professional, 2014 was established as the Beijing University of Technology undergraduate teaching comprehensive reform model. The existing 12 full-time teachers, including 1 professors, 5 associate professors, 6 lecturers. The professional team of teachers teaching and practical experience, in 2013 the professional teaching achievements in Beijing education and teaching achievement award two prize.
In recent years, under the guidance of teachers, the students actively participate in various design competitions, won numerous design awards including the international design contest IF award, the red dot award, China red star design original award, Ministry of education, National College of industrial design. Graduates active in Mercedes Benz, Guangzhou automobile, BYD, patriot, 360, Xiaomi, Smartisan and other well-known enterprises and design companies, has achieved remarkable results.
2- Training objectives
This major is based on Beijing Technology and Business University business and engineering, training to adapt to the era of design and development of discipline and talent demand, and cross disciplinary knowledge, professional product design, with a strong sense of innovation and good design and communication skills, able to integrate design, users, business and technology to carry out occupation designer product design and service. The graduates can enter the enterprise or design company engaged in design and development, product interaction design, service design, environmental design, exhibition design and multimedia design work, or to continue their study, master or doctoral degree at home and abroad.
2.1- Training requirements
The students acquire the following knowledge and abilities through this specialized study:
1. They have a cross-disciplinary knowledge structure of art, nature, humanities and social sciences, with interdisciplinary learning ability;
2. They master the basic theory of the field of expertise, basic knowledge, basic skills and basic qualities;
3. They have a strong design expression, information access capability and strong sense of innovation;
4. They have a skilled product design skills, has a strong engineering practice ability and knowledge integration innovation ability;
5. They are well versed in qualitative and quantitative methods related to design;
6. They have a strong team spirit and communication skills.
2.2- Training path
Based on the advantage of "business department", the product design specialty puts forward the idea of "compound and application", deepens the reform and innovation of talent training in product design, and explores the talents of "theory teaching, practice teaching and research teaching" Training mode, to create a "service design for the characteristics of" design talent training path.
1.Reinforcing basic education and cultivating professional. Product design is a complex professional, must be based on cross-disciplinary basis. 2.Strengthen the practice link, foster innovation consciousness. Product design is the application of professional, with particular emphasis on practical teaching. Fundamentals of Design, Thinking and Expression of Design, Design Introduction, Design History, Ergonomics, Design Engineering, Material studying &Model Making Technique, Digital Design Technology of Products, Product design courses, Information and Service Design, Experience and interaction design, Product System Design.
4- Practical characteristics
1.Three - dimensional three - level progressive teaching system based on design expression, skill operation, social practice and design research.
2.From the curriculum experiment, the design practice to the comprehensive practice, from the curriculum, specialized courses, independent links to extracurricular practice, from the school to the school, practice teaching four years of continuous line;
3.Practice teaching extends from class to extracurricular, design thematic workshops, design competitions, scientific research and other activities of university students, in the form of diversification.
5- Credit hours
Students complete 137 credits to graduate.
In the first class, the credits are 120 credits, the ratio of the general education courses to the professional education courses is 1: 2.3, and the elective courses account for 25% of the total credits. Focus on the practice of teaching 9
credits. The ratio of practical to theoretical teaching is 3.7: 6.3.
The total credits for the second class are 8 credits.
