The School of Marxism Studies of Beijing Technology and Business University was founded on the basis of the former Social Science Department. The School of Marxism Studies was established in December 2008, and merged with the Law School. In 2012, it was renamed the Law /Marxist College. In November 2016, the School of Marxism Studies was officially established independently.

The school of Marxism Studies has such institutions as the Ideological and Moral Cultivation& Law Basis, Marxist Basic Principles, Mao Zedong Thought and Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Postgraduate Public Course, the office of the Party Committee and the teaching affairs office, etc. The School was awarded two Secondary disciplines master's degrees: Sinicization of Marxism and Ideological and Political Education in 2006 and one First-Level Discipline of Marxist theory in 2011. There are two research centers of "Chinese traditional culture and ideological and political education" and "network ideological and political education". In 2016, the Cooperative Innovation Center of "Marxism and Ruling the Country by Law in an All-round Way" was established jointly by the Institute of Marxist Studies, Nankai University and Hebei University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

The School of Marxism Studies has a team of teachers with reasonable structure, strong scientific research ability and stable research direction. There are total number of thirty faculty members, two of them being professors, thirteen of them being associate professors, and twelve lecturers. As far as academic degree is concerned, about 80% of them are doctors. Among the faculty members are the "100-person project" of social science theory talents in Beijing in the new century, the top professor of Ideological and political theory courses in Universities in Beijing, the top teacher of Ideological and political theory courses in Universities in Beijing, the top middle-aged and young excellent teachers in Beijing, the selected teachers of Beijing Youth Talent Program Subsidies and Middle-aged and Young People's Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Universities Affiliated to Beijing, the candidates of the sailing plan for the ideological and political theory course in Colleges and universities, etc.

The School of Marxism Studies attaches great importance to discipline construction and academic research, and has formed a number of research results with its own characteristics and strong social influence. The research results were awarded the Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement and the Capital University Students Ideological and Political Education Outstanding Research Achievement, etc. The School of Marxism Studies has been granted the right to award the degree of master and enrolls students in the three first disciplines of Marxist Basical Principle, Sinicization of Marxist, Marxism and Ideological and Political Education. The discipline of Marxist theory aims at cultivating Marxist theorists and specialists with firm Marxist beliefs and socialist beliefs, adapting to the actual needs of the country, especially the economic and social development of the capital, having solid theoretical foundation of Marxist theory and systematic professional basic knowledge, and having good political insight, academic speculation and writing and expression abilities. In terms of personnel training, the School of Marxism Studies has formed the characteristics of focusing on professional quality, practical ability and knowledge structure optimization.
