The university actively promotes scientific and technological work oriented towards regional and industrial economic construction and social development, achieving encouraging results in applied research, high and new technology, and its industrialization. Over the past five years, the university has been approved for 6 projects and 24 topics under the National Key Research and Development Program; 109 projects under the National Social Science Fund; 247 projects under the National Natural Science Foundation; 59 projects under the Beijing Social Science Fund; 62 projects under the Beijing Natural Science Foundation; and 28 projects under the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Program. A total of 803 invention patents and 70 utility model patents have been granted. Additionally, 357 academic works have been published, along with 11,960 academic papers.

The university currently publishes three Chinese academic journals. Among them, the Journal of Beijing Technology and Business University (Social Science Edition) has been continuously included as a source journal for the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI), a core journal of the Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Journal AMI. The Journal of Food Science and Technology has been indexed by Ei (Engineering Index, USA), Scopus, the Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), and listed as a Peking University core journal. China Plastics has been indexed by the Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), Chemical Abstracts (CA, USA), the JST database (Japan), the EBSCO database (USA), and is recognized as a Core Chinese Science and Technology Journal, a Peking University core journal, and a 6th edition Fine Science and Technology Journal of China. These publications, distinguished by their clear academic focus and high quality, have received numerous awards.
