The discipline of Biology and Biochemistry of BTBU ranks among the top 1% of ESI worldwide

Clarivate's latest Essential Science Indicators (ESI) statistics, released in July 2023, The discipline of Biology & Biochemistry of our school entered the top 1% of ESI global ranking for the first time, achieving a historic breakthrough in discipline construction, marking our school's biology and biochemistry into the ranks of international high-level disciplines.     


According to the latest data, BTBU's ESI comprehensive ranking ranks 1,959 in the world, up 504 places from the same period last year (2,463 last year), and up 23 places from the previous period in May 2023 ( 1982 last time).


ESI database is divided into 22 subject areas, is based on the Clarivate Web of Science (SCIE/SSCI) collected more than 12,000 academic journals in the world more than 10 million literature records established by the quantitative analysis database. The SCI and SSCI papers and citations of all universities and scientific research institutions in the world are counted and compared every 10 years. Only the disciplines ranked in the top 1% according to the number of citations can enter the ESI discipline ranking. At the same time, the ranking of the universities and scientific research institutions ranked in the top 1% in the world can be updated and published every two months. ESI database comprehensively measures the scientific research level of countries/regions, academic reputation of institutions, academic influence of scientists and academic level of journals from various perspectives through six indicators: number of papers, citation frequency of papers, average citation frequency of papers, highly cited papers, hot papers and cutting-edge papers. It has become one of the important evaluation index tools widely used in the world to evaluate the international academic level and influence of universities, academic institutions, countries/regions.
