Recently, the 2026 Global Smart Education Conference was held in Beijing. During the conference’s Outstanding Case Selection, the case titled “Integration of Business and Technology, Digital Intelligence Empowerment: Exploration and Practice of Smart Education at Beijing Technology and Business University”, which was developed and submitted by the Digital Education Research Institute of the university, underwent multiple rounds of rigorous review and was honored as one of the 2026 Outstanding Smart Education Cases.

The conference, themed “Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Development of Education”, featured plenary sessions, parallel forums, and thematic activities. It was coorganized by Beijing Normal University and the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE). Attendees included representatives from international organizations such as UNESCO, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), and the International Association of Universities (IAU), along with participants from over 60 countries. The conference brought together experts, scholars, and frontline educators from the global education, technology, and industry sectors. Focusing on the frontiers of global smart education development, the event showcased outstanding smart education cases and innovative solutions, and explored sustainable pathways for the deep integration of artificial intelligence and education. Stakeholders exchanged new theories, technologies, and practices in smart education. Serving as a highlevel platform to advance the digital transformation of education worldwide, participants jointly explored new models for equitable, inclusive, highquality and accessible global education development in the intelligent era.

The case comprehensively presents the university’s recent innovative practices in digital education, particularly in leveraging artificial intelligence to empower teaching and learning. It addresses the key challenges faced by local undergraduate institutions, such as improving management efficiency through digitalintelligenceenabled transformation, delivering personalized and precise education, and integrating digital educational resources. Through the integrated use of digital management platforms and intelligent educational tools, the university has continuously refined its highquality and distinctive talentdevelopment models. This fully reflects the university’s notable progress in deepening the integration of AI with education and teaching, as well as in exploring reforms in smart education and talentdevelopment models. The case’s innovative features and practical value have been recognized by the conference’s expert reviewers, who acknowledged that it offers actionable solutions for enhancing educational quality and fostering students’ holistic development. Building on this achievement, the university looks forward to contributing more insights and practical experience to constructing a new highereducation ecosystem that is adaptable to future social development.
