Continuing education is an important part of the education system of Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU). After the merger and reconstruction in November 1999, the Adult Education Department of the former Beijing Institute of Business, the former Beijing Institute of Light Industry and the former Mechanical Management Cadre Institute merged into Adult Education School of BTBU. In May 2003, Adult Education School was renamed School of Continuing Education. In January 2004, Education and Training Center and School of Applied Technology of BTBU merged into School of Continuing Education. Beijing Gongshangda Foreign Study Service and Consulting Center also joined School of Continuing Education in 2013.
School of Continuing Education mainly relies on the strong teaching force, advanced teaching facilities and good teaching environment. There are three parts of the school's educational content, which includes adult higher education, non-degree short-term training and international cooperation.
In the aspect of adult education, our school has a long history and rich experience. There are currently more than 20 different levels of discipline such as economics, management, arts, engineering and other disciplines in our school, as well as a number of correspondence teaching points domestically. The school takes a different approach of adult university and correspondence teaching and other forms of teaching, there are three levels of degrees in our school, which are undergraduate starting from high school level, undergraduate starting from junior college level and junior college starting from high school level. In which, undergraduate students with corresponding conditions can be awarded Bachelor’s degrees. In recent years, under the guiding ideology “Survive and development based on quality”, the school aims to improve teaching quality, teaching management and teaching effectiveness, focusing on improving teaching quality, standardizing teaching management and stabilizing teaching order. With the effort of all the staff members of School of Continuing Education, nowadays the school has achieved great development, such as, the enrolled quantity of students are in good condition, the quality of teaching is improving year by year and the school also enjoys a good reputation among all the students as well as other schools of continuing education.
In the area of non-degree continuing education, Education and Training Center of BTBU has been committed to developing high-level short-term training. In accordance with the training ideas of "Combination, Cooperation and Common Interests", adhere to "Serve the community, cultivate personnel and achieve win-win situation", the school has constantly been making new breakthroughs. At present, high-level short-term training has gradually become the focus of the school. Relying on the discipline of accounting, business management, finance management, civil and commercial law and other advantages of professional resources, excellent teaching environment, a full range of teaching facilities, strong management services of BTBU, Education and Training Center has become the earliest accounting continuing education center authorized by National Government Offices Administration, Beijing Finance Bureau, Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Beijing Real Estate Agents Association and Beijing Brokers Association. Education and Training Center holds various kinds of training classes throughout the year and the amount of the trainee could reach 5,000 or more each year.
In the field of international cooperation, Beijing Gongshangda Foreign Study Service and Consulting Center and its subordinate Foreign Examination Center, also provide the students with self-paying foreign study services and international language ability examination services. Beijing Gongshangda Foreign Study Service and Consulting Center has been engaging in self-paying foreign study service since 1996 and has conducted foreign study programs in Ukraine, Japan, the UK and New Zealand etc., the school has already sent out more than 1,000 students to Ukraine at present. Foreign Examination Center opens up international language ability examination service to the whole society and is one of the earliest examination centers to hold TOEFL examinations authorized by Foreign Examination Center of Ministry of Education. Foreign Examination Center also holds GRE, TOEFL and The JLPT (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test) services throughout the year.
