The Department of P.E. and Arts Education of Beijing Technology and Business University was established in 2009 by the merger of the former Department of P.E. and Research Division of Arts. In 2010, it had another merger with the Research Division of Psychology and instituted the current Department of P.E. and Arts Education, which focuses on students’comprehensivequality of P.E., arts and psychology.

Aside from taking the responsibility of teaching and scientific research of the three majors, the Department of P.E. and Arts Education also undertakes the tasks of training and competition of the university sports team,the tasks of performance and communication of the university art ensemble and the work of general management of the university’s gyms and stadiums.

There are five research divisions in the department: the first, second, and third P.E. division, the division of psychological quality education and the division of arts. The department also includes general office, teaching office, center for students’ fitness and health monitoring as well as center for stadium management.

Currently the Department of P.E. and Arts Education is well staffed with 46faculty members, in which there are 39 teachers. Of all the teachers there is 1 professor, 16 associate professors, 1 international referee, 5 national referees, 11 first-level national referees and 1 examiner for the national social arts level test.

There are 26 sports fields covering an area of 56620 square meters and 1 indoor sports complex covering an area of 5038 square meters, which meet the requirement of teaching and training.

The Department of P.E. and Arts Education enjoys a long and honorable sports history, during which both the university sports team and art ensemble rank high among all the universities in Beijing, and have achieved great success in various kinds of competitions.
