Training
Program of Undergraduate Talents for Automation Major
1. Introduce
Founded in 1978,Automation
Major (predecessor of AM) have been playing a key role in the development of
Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU). After nearly 40 years' development,
the Major has made great achievements in teaching and research. Since 2004, AM
has become the brand building major of Beijing and the first scholastic
advantage characteristic major of BTBU. In 2014, AM became the leading teaching
reform courses of the undergraduate education in BTBU. The disciplines of AM
are Control Science and Engineering, which has the authority to launch master degree
of first-class discipline, and Master of Engineering with the authority to launch
professional Master degree. The undergraduate students are educated with
overall knowledge of the disciplines. AM thus has become an important base for
training the high-level talents in automation field and hold many obvious
advantages in industrial and commercial automation field for China's
construction of modernization.
Currently, there are
14 faculty members at AM, including 4 professors, 6 associate professors and 4
lecturers, among whom, there are 13 members with a doctorate degree, 1 Science and
Technology Nova of Beijing, 4 Young-Middle-Aged Backbone Teachers of Beijing City.
AM has powerful capability for scientific research and has undertaken A number
of nation-level and provincial(ministerial)-level scientific research projects.
Those Projects won the second prize in the National Science and Technology Progress
Award, the second and third prize of Progress in Scientific Technology of Beijing,
and so on. AM also sets up Intelligent Detection and Optimization Control Team,
which is the Beijing academic innovation team.
In undergraduate
teaching, AM has lots of complete teaching facilities and excellent
experimental conditions. Many Control, Detection, Electrical and Electronic Laboratories
and Large-scale Logistics Training Centers are instituted to provide
high-quality standardized teaching and individualized teaching for students.
Since its inception, AM has kept the broad major for undergraduate program to
meet the needs of technical innovation and socialist market economy, to strengthen
the fundamental expertise and to broaden the professional scope. The rate of college
graduate obtain employment over the years is running at more than 95%, and the postgraduate
entrance examination rate ranks the first in the school for many years.
2. Educational Goals
Relying on the advantages in the light industry and following
the concept of "taking engineering education as the core, strengthening
the innovation ability of students", the educational goals of the AM is
training the advanced engineering talents to meet the needs of national and
capital economic construction and social development. After the systematic
engineering practice training, they have a good grasp of engineering technology
foundation and professional knowledge for control theory, information
processing, electronic technology, computer technology, network and
communication technology and other fields, with the better ability to solve the
engineering problems in the practical application.
After graduation, students
can be engaged in analysis, design, development and management of industrial
and commercial automation system, in high technology, advanced manufacturing,
modern service industry, communications, finance and other industries as well
as state organs, research institutes, etc. Or else they can continue to study
for a master and doctor degree at the domestic and international Universities.
3. Main Courses Description
The main courses of AM are including: Principles of Circuits, Fundamentals of Analog Electronic Technology, Digital Electronic Technology, Automatic Control Theory, Modern Control Theory, Detection Technology and Instrument, Modern Detection Technology, Automatic Identification Technology, Signal Analysis and Processing, Principles of Microcomputer and Interface Technology, Principles and Application of Microcontrollers,Power Electronics Technology, Motor and Motion Control, Process Control System, Computer Control System,Computer Network and Communication, Electrical Control and PLC, Commerce Automation System.
4. Practical Characteristics
AM is Constructing the System of Educational Teaching Practice, which contains course experimental practice, subject competition, scientific research, school enterprise cooperation , for speeding up the development of the students’ engineering practical ability and innovative spirit. There are four elements for the curriculum of the Teaching Practice System :
1. To build the four years training course for Experimental practice.
2. To guide, organize and Instruct students to participate in the subjects competitions.
3. To Encourage students to participate in teacher s’ research projects.
4. To establish long-term stable cooperative relationship with enterprises.
5. Requirements of Credit
Students
are required to complete 146 credits when they graduate from the major. Those credits
are including three parts: the first classroom teaching, concentrated
practice teaching and Second classroom teaching. The total credits of the first
classroom teaching is 128 credits, among which, the
credit ratio between general education courses and professional education
courses is 1:2.6, elective course credits accounted for the proportion of the total
credits of Course teaching is 23.4%. The credits focus on concentrated
practice teaching is 10 credits. There into, the ratio of practical teaching
and theoretical teaching is 2.9:7.1. Finally, the second classroom teaching
total credits is 8 credits.
6. Length of schooling and Degree
Length of schooling: Four Years
Degree to be awarded: Bachelor's Degree of Engineering for student meeting the requirements of degree granting.
