Educational Objectives

Software Engineering (SE) discipline is aiming at providing high standard professional education in the field of software engineering, and adapting the requirements for the development of software industry. SE emphasizes the practice of advanced programming and solid technology base of software. Graduates in SE master the software theory and modern financial literacy, have rich practical ability and innovative ability, especially with the skills of design and development the financial services software or mobile applications. SE prepares students for software engineering positions of the financial institutions, government, institutions and enterprises, and provides a solid foundation in software engineering principles that will allow graduates to adapt effectively in a quickly changing field. SE also prepares students with the abilities of information system maintenance and management capacities of engineering application. Some of graduates in SE will continue their education in domestic and foreign universities or research institutions.

Special features

With "engineering education" for the characteristics of talent cultivation, Software Engineering has the main directions of training as "financial services software" and "mobile application software" . Especially based on the national development of Beijing software industry, SE equip students with basic theories, knowledge and skills of software development and software engineering. SE has 14 full-time teachers, including 3 professors, 7 associate professors and 4 lecturers, 11 people with doctorates. SE also hire senior manager of well-known software companies or financial business as the off campus tutors. In recent years, professors of SE hosted more than 80 scientific research projects, of which more than 20 above the provincial level, published more than 200 papers and more than 20 academic monographs. Team of SE has the National "11th Five-Year" planning material, 2 quality materials of Beijing and 2 teaching achievement awards of Beijing. SE students participated in various disciplines contest, won the national award 2 times, provincial level award more than 20 times

The main courses of software engineering include: C Programming Language, Object-oriented Programming, Discrete Mathematics, Java Programming, Algorithm and Data Structure, Principle of Computer Organization, Principle and Application of Database, Operating system, Principle of Software Engineering, Software Design and System Structure, Software Testing and Quality Assurance, Financial Engineering and Financial Software Applications, Data Mining and Business Intelligence, Mobile Applications Development, Software Project Management, etc.

Employment prospects

The undergraduates of the discipline are arming at Software Engineer, System Architect, System Analyst and Software Test Engineer in business or financial area.
