At 1:00 p.m.Irish local time on 24th August,2011(8:00 p.m. on 24th BJT), the Royal Irish Academy anounced the list of recipients for the Hamilton Award in Mathematics, among which there is Chen Liang, a senior student from Beijing Technology and Business University who went to the Universtity College Cork for the UCC-BTBU Joint Degree. Chen is the first Chinese to receive such an award.
Chen Liang was a student from Arts Experimental Class of School of Economics. Chen participated in the UCC-BTBU Joint Degree Project in 2007 and graduated in 2009. He is currently pursuing the postgraduate program of Financial Mathematics and Actuarial Science at the Universtity College Cork. The said award is deemed as Ireland’s highest honor in mathematics.
