【2015 International Week】BTBU Irish-themed Day Celebrated

On March 16, 2015, Beijing Technology and Business University held a series of activities to celebrate the Irish-themed Day. Irish Minister of Environment, Community and Local Government Alan Kelly T.D., representatives from Irish colleges and universities, along with nearly 300 students of BTBU attended the event.

In the opening speech, BTBU Vice President Mr. Li Chaoxian pointed out that BTBU held Irish-themed day activitieson the National Day of Ireland, hoping to promote mutual understanding and love of Chinese and Irish culture, as well as establish profound friendship between each other.

Artists from Ireland performed traditional Irish folk music for the audience, while BTBU Art Group demonstrated a series of cheerful medley of Chinese folk dance. The cultural performances ended with the Irish folk song “Danny Boy” which sung by the BTBU Chorus.

MinisterKelly said that he was very pleased to be able to participate in BTBU Irish-themed Day activities. He stated that both China and Ireland had long history.The Irish government attached great importance to the cooperation in education between the two countries, and BTBU participated and witnessed the development of the cooperation. He additionally expressed his hope that both sides could further strengthen the cooperation and exchanges and share the achievements.
