Zheng Haoxia

 Zheng Haoxia(1971- ), a senior lecturer in School of Foreign Languages of Beijing Technology and Business University since 2002, teaching the undergraduate compulsory course College English and having an academic interest in American literature and translation studies.

 

Ms Zheng was born in Sichuan province, graduated with a BA degree from Sichuan International Studies University (in Chongqing) as an English major in 1993, and got her MA degree in 1996 in Heilongjiang University (in Harbin) with a thesis focusing on Hemingway and his works, a typical research area in American literature. After graduation she worked for 4 years as a faculty member in School of Humanities and Social Sciences in Beijing Jiaotong University and became a lecturer there in 1998. In 2000 she transferred to Capital Information Corporation, a Beijing-based and Hong Kong-listed high-tech company, and mainly engaged in international cooperation. After about 2 years’ working chiefly as a translator and interpreter in the company, in 2002, she succeeded in applying for a teaching position in BTBU and thus resumed a campus life. In 2013, she made a three-month visiting study in University College Cork in Ireland as a member of BTBU prominent teachers’ delegation to UCC.

 

In recent years, Ms Zheng has published a few academic papers discussing American literature and translation studies in different periodicals. In 2015, she published her monograph A Study of Contemporary Translation Theories in the West. In 2016, she was enrolled in a research project focusing on Chinese-English translation strategies of particular political documents.

 

Ms Zheng was appraised as one of BTBU Excellent Teaching and Administrative Staff in Annual Assessment in 2011, 2014 and 2015.
