Minister Joseph McHugh T.D., Department of Education and Skills of Irish State visits BTBU

                                

                                

                                 

On March 17, Joseph McHugh T.D., Minister for Education and Skills of Irish State, visited Beijing Technology and Business University(BTBU) with Mr.Eoin O'Leary, Ambassador of Ireland to the People's Republic of China and Prof. Patrick O’Shea, President of University College Cork(UCC) during his visit to China. Prof. Sun Baoguo, BTBU President, met the delegation led by Minister Joseph McHugh T.D. and gave the welcome speech at the meeting in the Fucheng Campus. Prof. Jia Yingmin, vice-president of BTBU held and attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Prof.Sun welcomed the visit of Minister Joseph McHugh T.D. and distinguished guests from Ireland. He introduced the recent achievements and development of the university. Prof. Sun hoped to strengthen the cooperation with the top Irish universities such as UCC in cultivating talents, scientific research and promoting more quality joint education cooperation in the future.
Minister Joseph McHugh T.D. congratulated BTBU on its progress in recent years. He said Irish government will give the continuous support for the cooperation between UCC and BTBU. Prof. Patrick O’ Shea expressed the hope that UCC would be willing to further cooperate with BTBU in the common interested areas,
Afterwards, the Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh T.D. witnessed the signing of an agreement between BTBU and UCC on Overseas Visiting Learning Program of BMEC.
March 17 is the National Day of the Republic of Ireland. It is also the Saint Patrick’s Day in Ireland. The activity of “Ireland Day at BTBU” took place in the East Campus Auditorium of BTBU. Hundreds of students and faculty members gathered to enjoy the wonderful show that more than 200 performers from BTBU and Ireland worked tirelessly to put up.
